What we do?
The Afrodehye Cultural Troupe (ACT Project) was established in response to the challenges the youth face in Ghana's cultural hub. The cultural troupe's mission is to provide alternative sources of engagement to the youth whilst allevaiting them from poverty and other social vices. The cultural troupe use dancing education to protect and promote the national heritage of Ghana as an element of African cultural heritage. Thanks to the support of our donors and volunteers, we are able to bring these children together and inspire them whilst entertaining our audience.

Dance Education
Did you know that each ethnic group in Ghana have their own unique traditional dances, with some specific dances for different occasions like festivals, marriage ceremonies, other celebrations, and funerals? We dance to entertain and educate people and some common dances are adowa, agbadza, bamaya, borborbor, kpanlogo, kple and apatampa dance. Our trainers and dancers are able to entertain and teach you all the traditional dances in Ghana.
Naming Ceremonies
Traditional naming ceremony is an important feature within the Ghanaian society. For instance, the Akans in Ghana believes that, every child is made up three things, namely, semen from the dad, blood from the mum and the soul from the day on which the child is born. Therefore everyone is born with soul name reflecting the day on which he/she is born. Names such as Kojo is for Monday born males and Adwoa is female version and these reflects each of the seven days in a week.
Although mostly there are slight variations among the tribal Outdooring ceremonies, the practices are somewhat similar and focused on welcoming the baby. After being given a name, friends and family provide gifts to the baby which is then followed by a feast.
